Our client is a leading gaming provider operating worldwide including in the UK, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. They were established in the late 1990’s, and pioneered the introduction of Fixed Odd Betting Terminals to the UK’s Licensed Betting Offices.
Department Overview
- The Production Systems department is responsible for managing the operations of all customer facing gaming system platforms and infrastructure, both nationally and internationally, providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support. The department of eight people is aligned into two disciplines; servers and networks. Each discipline drives the specification, design, implementation, testing, and administration of the infrastructure working closely with pre and post sales technical divisions.
Job Summary
- Lead and be responsible for administration, maintenance, installation, monitoring and reporting of servers and bespoke Windows software applications on production gaming systems located at various datacentres and to provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
- The position requires a highly motivated multifaceted individual to contribute and be part of a proactive, responsive and customer focused productions systems team.
- Also responsible for managing and maintaining development infrastructure and services requiring close interaction with software development teams in a DevAdmin role.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively administrate server systems to maintain 24/7/365 uptime.
- Deploying, testing and maintenance of bespoke .NET software applications.
- Install and maintain Windows servers and services.
- Implement a rigorous systems patching schedule.
- Fault finding, analysis of logging information and reporting of performance exceptions.
- Generation and maintenance of system documentation including dataflow diagrams, fault finding, disaster recovery and system maintenance processes and procedures.
- Keeping current with technologies that would benefit the company.
- Suggest, design, implement and deploy new technologies.
- Liaising with supplies regarding their products and services.
- Assist staff in understanding and resolving issues.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Extensive system administration experience with a technical degree qualification.
- In depth experience with WS2003, WS2008R2, SQL2005, SQL2008R2; installing, configuring, maintaining, administrating.
- Must be competent with MS SQL configuration and tools; backup/restoring DB’s, job scheduling, SSRS report installation, data warehouse maintenance, large databases and associated difficulties – 300GB+, replication and mirroring technologies, SQL installation best practices.
- Experienced in real-time online transaction processing production environments.
- Competent in scripting (.cmd, .vbs, powershell), programming ability useful.
- Excellent knowledge of MS active directory, GPO’s, IIS web services and .NET platforms.
- Excellent understanding of TCP/IP protocol and networking, IPSEC, VPN’s and routing.
- Hands on knowledge of server and systems hardware configuration, maintenance, selection, sizing and costing to meet project requirements, budget and timeframes.
- Working knowledge of server and application monitoring for performance and reliability reporting.
- Specification and configuration of virtualisation technologies including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Thorough knowledge of system hosting infrastructure and their platforms required.
- Disaster recovery and fault tolerant infrastructure planning and implementation.
- Awareness of security and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent fault finding and problem solving.
- Good project management skills.
