Barrière to launch UK's first 3D casino 12/02/2009
Barrière Interactive Gaming, the online subsidiary of Lucien Barrière Hotels & Casinos, is to launch the UK’s first fully 3D online casino later this year.
Based on the group’s famous bricks and mortar casino in Deauville, France, players will be able to create their own virtual characters from a series of life-like avatars in a dressing room area, and then be able to look around the casino, talk to other players while at the roulette and blackjack tables or try their luck on the slots.
The game was developed in association with cross-platform games developer MKO Games, forged from an alliance between an independent film group and an animation studio back in 2006.
A 2D version of the game will also be made available through the LeCroupier.com website for players who do not wish to download the 3D software. The game play has been specifically designed in order to be easily marketed towards new players.
Jon Strock, chief operating officer for LeCroupier.com, said: “With our 47-year heritage in managing 40 land-based casinos, LeCroupier.com is uniquely positioned to provide the best online casino in the market. With the first truly 3D online casino, featuring life-like avatars and the possibility to interact with other players, we are confident that LeCroupier.com will be the next generation in online casinos.”
The company said that further games, including poker, betting and a mobile version of the game, are planned for launch later in 2009.
