Cyberfraud fears on increase, study shows 15/05/2009
The survey also found that half of web users surveyed will cancel a purchase if their preferred method of payment is not available, while a further 12% were undecided whether they would cancel the purchase or not.
ClickandBuy e-commerce director Nick Drew said: “Competition is rife in the online space and if people aren’t being offered the right service and payment systems to meet their needs, they will take their custom elsewhere.”
Asked to respond to the statement “I feel no safer buying online than I did five years ago” respondents were split almost equally, with 37% agreeing, 34% disagreeing and 33% either neutral on the question or did not shop online five years ago.
The survey was conducted using an online interview with 2030 members selected at random from YouGov’s panel of 185,000+ individuals from England, Scotland and Wales who have agreed to take part in surveys.
Those questioned ranged from 18 to over 65 in age, and were ranked ‘ABC1’ employment type, meaning that they are in managerial, administrative or professional employment.
