PKR signs live broadcast deal with WSOP 22/05/2009

Jon Parker

Poker room PKR has signed a deal with Bluff media to be the sole live broadcaster of 24 bracelet events from this year’s World Series of Poker (WSOP).

With sports TV channel ESPN no longer broadcasting many World Series events across Europe, the deal makes PKR.com the only place to watch them.

PKR marketing director Simon Prodger said, “The World Series of Poker is without doubt the biggest event of the poker calendar and it fills me with delight that PKR has managed to scoop exclusive rights to be the official broadcaster for these events.”

PKR.com’s most popular broadcast is likely to be the final table of the $50,000 World Championship HORSE event, and the five $10,000 World Championship final tables of tournaments such as the Heads Up No Limit Hold’em.

The deal will also see PKR.com become the exclusive non-US sponsor of the WSOP website.

In other WSOP news, table sponsor Everest Poker has said it will contribute US$1,000 towards the cost of travel for online qualifiers to bring a friend to the event, as reported on EGRmagazine.com on Wednesday (more).
