New affiliate to pit bookie's probabilities against real sports stats 28/05/2009

A new affiliate site is being launched that will pit scientific predictions on sports outcomes based on real statistics against those from bookmakers
Bettii.com seeks to differentiate itself from other betting affiliates by providing football punters with a scientific alternative to the opinions of tipsters found on existing betting affiliate sites, closing the knowledge gap between them and online bookies.
Founder Oscar Lashley told eGaming Review: “The probability on bookmakers’ sites is not really worth anything unless you have something else to compare them to. We put statistics into our algorithm, which spits out probabilities on eight or ten different outcomes. By pairing those stats and probabilities against bookmakers’ odds, people can see the discrepancy between these odds.”
Information is made available on the site via a new form of interface that is adjustable, allowing punters to see all the variables feeding into each predicted outcome and increase the influence of individual variables. This capability can be used to bet on in-running games, Lashley said.
“When you have 50 different types of statistics, you can decide that only 12 of these are important for the outcome and our algorithm then gives you another set of odds. For example if Arsenal has scored 65% of their goals in the last 15 minutes and you think that is significant, that information can be increased in significance. We are putting the user in control.”
The Bettii start-up will focus initially on English football’s Premier League, and is talking to prospective bookmaking partners ahead of a launch in time for the start of the new season in August. Lashley plans to extend the Bettii model to cover other football leagues once the business is up and running.
Bettii is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
