Bodog ends two-year legal fight for control of Bodog.com 11/06/2009

Bodog has regained control of its Bodog.com domain name after finishing a ‘patent troll’ law suit, today marking the first day the company has been able to use the domain name.
Morris Mohawk Gaming, the Canada-based licensee for the Bodog brand in North America, reached an agreement with now defunct Las Vegas supplier company 1st Technology at the end of April, ending a two year court battle between the two in the district court of Nevada
As reported on EGRmagazine.com, 1st Technolgoy claimed to own the Bodog.com domain name, forcing Bodog to redirect customers to the domain NewBodog.com (more). However Bodom has now regained control of Bodog.com, and began operating it today.
A Bodog statement said: “after much discussion and careful consideration, it was determined that the Bodog.com domain is simply too valuable an asset to be used solely as a geo-targeted redirect. As such, it is with great pride that Morris Mohawk Gaming Group announces the official return of Bodog.com. Starting today, Bodog.com will once again become the center of operations for the Bodog brand’s United States facing business”.
Even though the Bodog.com domain will house the brand’s US-facing business, the domain’s return is expected to benefit the brand’s global licensees regardless of a player’s location, as logging on to Bodog.com automatically redirects players to the appropriate licensee for their jurisdiction.
Bodog has its head office in Antigua and licenses the Bodog brand to licensees for an array of products worldwide. As reported on EGRmagazine.com last week, Bodog is to launch a push on Europe this summer (more).
