888 tops 20 most visible casino websites for US players 12/06/2009
888, SpinPalace and Casino.com are the highest profile casino sites to American web users, according to new research revealing the 20 most visible casino sites on Google.com.
The three brands beat rivals such as William Hill, Littlewoods and Stanley as the most search engine optimised, appearing most often on the first page of search results on Google’s US-facing site, Google.com, for casino-related terms such as ‘casino’, ‘online casino’ and ‘casino games’ in the month of April, the most recent month for which accurate data is available. Google is the world’s dominant search engine, responsible for 90% of total internet searches.
The study by search engine marketing company Greenlight shows that 888 appeared on the first page of results in 70% of searches, SpinPalace.com for 62%, and Casino.com 55%. The three sites were the only ones to appear on the first page of results more than half of the time, with nearest competitor Casino.co.uk appearing on the first page of only 48% of results, and GetMinted.com on just 30%.
They were also the only directly-casino related sites to beat online encyclopaedia Wikipedia and movie site IMDB, which came in 5th and 6th place due to their significant link equity. The top 20 most visible casino sites are listed below.
The most popular search term for casino sites was, unsurprisingly, the word ‘casino’, which was employed in 59% of searches. It was followed by ‘online casino’ (10%), ‘casino games’ (4%), ‘free online slots’, ‘online slots’ and ‘free casino games’ (2% each); and ‘las vegas casino’, ‘internet casino’, ‘free casino slots’ (1% each), with all other search terms comprising 18% of searches in total.
As reported by eGaming Review exclusively recently, an identical study for Google UK showed 888 is also the most visible site for British online casino players (more).
Along with Party, 888 is also the most visible poker site for US internet users (more).

How come we do not see slotsjam.com, livecasinodirect.com or casinoadvisor.com here? They outperform some of the sites listed in top20 for visibility in the USA and are far more optimized for keywords. What is the base for this listings? I would use semrush, google adplaner too to compare sites. The number of keywords that casinochoice ranks in top20 is only 55 whereas slotsjam 2.580. Which one do you think is more visible? Take adplaner and see that onlinecasinoextra does not even have data for us traffic when you go specific by country. A study should go further than picking a couple of obvious terms and making a list.
