Playtech ready for stand-alone poker network in France, Weizer says

PLAYTECH IS ready to roll out a stand-alone poker network in France when that market is regulated next year, chief executive Mor Weizer has told EGRmagazine.com.

Playtech already supplies Chili Poker, which will provide the poker platform for France’s second biggest internet service provider Free, and Weizer said the software company already had memoranda of understanding in place with a number of potential French partners

Weizer said that Playtech will execute a similar strategy to the one employed in Italy where it built Italian-only liquidity quickly by supplying major Italian operators such as Snai and Sisal.

He would not confirm how many partners would be included but said Playtech “would make sure the agreements would work in a balanced way between all the licensees to ensure their success”

PartyGaming chief executive Jim Ryan last week also expressed PartyGaming’s intention to launch Party Poker in France next year when egaming regulation was enacted.

Playtech's half-year results were published yesterday showing earnings before interest tax depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) up more than a third, which Weizer said demonstrated the strength of Playtech's strategy.
