News in brief: £90k in, Calvin Ayre repeats Haiti donation challenge; Microgaming-Lord Of The Rings; Betfair; Parlay...

THE Calvin Ayre Foundation has matched donations to Haitian earthquake victims totalling £90,000 to date as part of Bodog founder Ayre’s pledge to match any donation of up to $1m, which he made last month. Ayre (pictured) said: “It’s a great start but when Haiti starts to fall off the front pages is when they really need help the most… We all know the gaming industry is a profitable one so let’s give a little back and if that’s not an incentive then surely costing me $1,000,000 is!".

Software supplier Microgaming has signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Warner Bros Digital Distribution to create a series of video slot games based on the The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.

Betfair has been certified with the Carbon Trust Standard for having reduced the business’ carbon output. The Carbon Trust is a not-for-profit organisation promoting the development of low carbon businesses.Betfair launched its environmental strategy in 2007, its key goal being to reduce the company’s carbon footprint by 30% per pound sterling of revenue by the end of 2010.

Parlay Entertainment, the Canadian egaming software business, has signed a three-way deal with broadcast, online and mobile game developer Atacmedia and Alderney-licensed technology platform Beast Gaming for Beast to license and market Parlay’s Bingo and side game products through Parlay’s managed services offering, Parlay Game Services (PGS), and for the launch of Atacmedia’s ’Live Presenter Bingo’ services on the PGS network. 

VistaGaming, an umbrella brand covering 13 gaming sites including CyberBingo, UK-based OkMagBingo and DailyStarBingo, and Spanish sites JuegosLucky and PepeGames, has launched an affiliate programme. Details can be found at VistaGamingAffiliates.com.

BetAdvisor.com, a new European site selling sports tipster picks, will launch this month. The site pools the expertisie of 25  “top European professional tipsters,” and offers a betting yield of between 15% to 25%. The company plans to launch a marketing campaigns in Asia, Scandinavia and the UK.
